It may not look like the most spectacular stronghold but the history of this keep goes back to the year 963 when it was for the first time mentioned. During the 15th and 16th century several members of the L'aitre family inhabit the keep. The last one Wathier de L'Aitre hands over the keep to Mathieu de Jupille on July 24th, 1596. Later on it will change hands several times until Mathias Delbrouck buys it in 1657. His descendents keep the domain until the middle of the 18th century. It goes to Chanoine Chefnay and later on to Cheneviere in 1792. The family Stellingwerff buys the building in 1838 and they sell it in 1853 to Robiano
