The ruins of Haute Roche can be found in the village Dourbes. There was already a fortified castle on this spot in the 9th century. The castle of which these ruins remain was built late 13th century. This castle together with several other smaller strongholds in the area were connected to the castle Fagnolle. Because of its military important position the castle was throughout the centuries always strengthened. This could however not prevent that the castle was demolished together with Fagnolle and many other strongholds in the area in 1555 during the siege of Mariembourg by the troops of the French King Henri II. Fagnolle and Haute Roche were never rebuild. This charming little ruin can be visited just follow one of the many paths that are leading up to the ruin.
