DU PARC

You can find this impressive castle in neo Flemish renaissance style in the charming little village of Vlamertinge It was built in 1856 by viscount Pierre Gustave du Parc. Like so many castles in this area also castle Du Parc suffered under WWI. Several army units confiscated it and during this occupation the inside of the castle was completely plundered. Viscount Maurice du Parc started to restore his castle in 1920.
During WWII the castle was again occupied by German troops and again a lot of damage was done. Luckely this time the damage was not so big and the castle was restored again after the war. The castle is still property of the du Parc family but can be seen from the public road.)
