ERKEGEM

Castle Erkegem is located close to the highway Brussel-Oostende in the village of Oostkamp. N. De Rijm who was married to Marie de Meulenaere widow of Pierre-Jacques van der Plancke built the castle in 1810. The estate was already sold in 1816 to Ferdinand-Auguste-Pierre d'Hanins who enlarged the domain considerably. His son Aimé-Francois-Joseph-Aquila d'Hanins sold the castle in 1858 to Octave van der Plancke grandson of the former owner Marie de Meulenaere. The castle is still property of van der Plancke family. You cannot visit it but it is visible from the bridge over the highway along the Hertsbergsestraat.
