The castle farm of Montigny dates back to the 14th century when it was in the hands of Hemptinne. Later on it moved to the Juppleu family and afterwards the Forville family. In 1626 it is Jean de Marotte who owns the castle and it is sold in 1637 for 4000 guilders to William Legros.
Jeanne Vancaneghem and Xavier Lelievre are the owners in 1853 and Mister Waesberghe in 1864. Charles de Hemptinne buys the castle farm in 1912 in memory of his family who owned the domain six hundred years before him. He leaves the castle in 1922 to Hospice St-Jaques from Namen.
Finally in 1982 the castle farm is sold to Van Hanret. Montigny is one of the most beautiful castle farms I have seen. The estate is private property but you can view the castle in all its glory from the public road.
