Castle Sipernau dates back to 1730. But there already was another castle on this spot that was mentioned the first time in 1179. The castle underwent major restorations and remodeling in 1855 when Knight Theodore Olislagers owned the castle. Napoleon Bonaparte stayed in his castle on his retreat of his Russian campaign in 1812. The castle is since 1952 property of the Blokken family. The out buildings belong to other owners and in the castle there are apartments for rent. The castle is not open for visits but you can view it from the public road and the chapel beside the castle is accessible.
