Castle Terbiest is located in Sint-Truiden. It is currently in use as a hotel school. Although the oldest part of the castle is at the moment not used and waits for a new initiative.
The history of this estate goes back to 1627 when the castle was most likely constructed. We find that year back on the mantelpieces and on the wall. The castle had several owners throughout the years. The family Vanslype Meyers bought the castle in 1912 and turned it into a steam distillery, this required a lot of remodeling.
The Belgian state bought the castle in 1949 and turned it into a horticulture school. In 1951 the castle underwent a restoration which gave the castle it currents look. The park around the castle is open to the public
