DE TOREN This little chateau is situated in Niewerkerken a borough of Sint Niklaas. It was built in 1895 for the Maes family a wealthy real estate dynasty. It changed hands many times throughout the decades until it was bought by Caroline Vanhaesebrouck who restored the building and opened a hotel. The last thing I heard is that the castle is up for sale so I do not know if it is still a hotel or that there are new owners who gave it another funtion. The castle can be viewed from the road.
