The area around Treignes was already in the old stoneages a popular area to live. During archological excavations lot of evidence was found that for thousands of years people were present on this spot. You also can find the restored foundations of a Roman villa in the village. We are however here to visit the castle farm in the middle of the village. The building dates back to the 16th century and was in 1568 property of Villam van Romeréé. Willem was a noble man who was provost marshal for Jean de Hamal Baron of Verviers.
Currently the castle houses the ecomuseum and the museum of agricultural mechanics
