West Malle is a small village situated to the east of Antwerp. The first written documents about this place date back to the early 12th century when there was a farm on this domain. But the Duke of Brabant sold the estate in 1449 to Henri van der Moelen. Through marriage the domain went to the Cottereau family and it was Evrard de Cottereau who turned the farm into the castle we still can see now. JB. Powis bought the castle in 1743 and this family stayed in the castle until 1847 when it went into the hands of Lord Bovie who restored the castle and made minor alterations. The Van de Streaten-Waillet family who still own it now bought the castle in 1914. The castle is private property but you can view it from the public road. The park is opened on rare locations.
